Dr. Klaus Duering is a serial life science entrepreneur and business consultant with broad skills. He has acted as a pre-seed investor for maturation of the technological basis and business concept leading to foundation and financing of MaRVis in cooperation with his co-founder Joachim Pfeffer. He serves as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of MaRVis Technologies GmbH and is involved in technology development.

In 1998 Klaus Duering founded his first biotech company. Since 2002 he runs his life science business and management consulting firm Axara Consulting. Further, he has invested in several development projects to qualify them for investment, licensing  or commercialization and closed investment and licensing deals. He is experienced in bringing novel medical devices and therapies to CE mark approval and market introduction. During his business career he gained broad experience in general management, strategic and business development, patent matters, medical device and pharmaceutical regulatory issues, etc.  Klaus Duering is an educated chemist, molecular biologist and phytopathologist with a successful career in public research before moving to business.

Mr. Joachim Pfeffer, MD, is the co-founder of MaRVis. He is a physician and medical engineer. Joachim Pfeffer has invented a series of valuable novel medical devices for the Department of Radiology at the University Hospital Aachen, for the Helmholtz Institute of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Aachen, and for commercial purposes. Klaus Duering and Joachim Pfeffer have already successfully cooperated in out-licensing of a percutaneously insertable expandable miniature blood pump (ECP) within AIS GmbH Aachen Innovative Solutions and of the new AlaxoStent therapy for treatment of obstructive sleep apnea within Alaxo GmbH.
